Canada is perhaps a misunderstood nation in much of the
world. Existing in the shadow of the USA has played a part in
this perhaps, but they are looked at a little differently around
the world. With a history that is steep in French heritage,
Canada today is a wonderful place that is a haven (and a
destination) for people from all over the world.
From the vast tracts of wilderness (some arctic) to the
beautiful majesty of Niagara Falls and other natural wonders,
Canada has plenty of attractions and locations for many
different types of travelers. From the French heritage to that
given to the country by the British and other Europeans, Canada
has become it's own over the years.
Central Canada
Central Canada is primarily Ontario and Quebec provinces. From
Quebec City to Montreal and Toronto to Ottawa, these two
provinces make up a lot of Canada. Whether it's the French
influenced Quebec or the British influenced Ontario, there is a
lot to offer in Central Canada. With many
major metropolitan centers that you may know about, there are
also some natural wonders to see, including Niagara Falls, which
could have an entire website dedicated just to itself. Whatever
your interests, Central Canada has a lot to offer travelers.
Western Canada
Western Canada's main province is British Columbia, but there
are also three Prairie provinces, including Alberta,
Saskatchewan, and Manitoba. Vancouver, in British Columbia is
sometimes referred to as "Hollywood North" by many people.
Speaking of Vancouver, it's the only major city this side of
Canada. Vancouver is quite a city, however. So whatever you're
wanting - a big city experience or the nice quiet Canadian
countryside - Western Canada has much to offer at a very
reasonable cost.
Atlantic Canada
New Brunswick, Prince Edward Island, and Nova Scotia are the
provinces found in Atlantic Canada. There are no cities over
half a million people in these smaller provinces on the Atlantic
seaboard, but that doesn't mean there's nothing to see or do. In
fact, while it's one of the smaller areas of Canada, many people
travel here. For those that love seafood and small, scenic
towns, Atlantic Canada is where it's at. It's a wonderful
destination for land lovers and sea lovers alike.
Northern Canada
While the great north might not be the dream destination for
everyone, many people enjoy more rugged adventures when they
travel, and that is certainly what this section of Canada
offers. Comprised of the Yukon, Northwest Territories, and
Nunavut provinces, this portion of Canada isn't very populated,
but for those who love a rugged adventure outdoors, Northern
Canada has a lot to offer. And with fewer amenities available,
it might be cheaper than you think to have the adventure of a
lifetime - whether it's hunting, fishing, or just enjoying the
pristine landscape of Northern Canada.
Canada: Close but Different
While Canada is situated next door to the United States, the
differences between the two are greater than you might at first
imagine. This isn't to take anything away from the United
States, but Canada has less people and have been leaders in
social advances throughout the 20th century and into the 21st
century. With a rich, multi-cultural history, Canada is a
wonderful place to travel for many different types of people.
Whether it's the modern metropolis that you're after or the
relaxing, quiet small town atmosphere, Canada has it all. This
may be one of the reasons so many people travel there - for more
than weddings at Niagara Falls. If you're ready for an
economical but fun filled vacation, give Canada a try.
